Shady Records is a record label founded by Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg.

After Eminem released The Marshall Mathers LP, he started his own record label in late 2000 with his manager, Paul Rosenberg. Eminem looked for an avenue to release his Detroit-based rap group, D12, and Rosenberg was keen to start a label, which lead to the two teaming up to form Shady Records.

D12 had come around as the first to be signed as they have been rapping together since the 1990s, and the members had made a promise that whoever became successful first would come back for the others. Eminem was the first to achieve this success, and kept his word. By June 2001, D12 released Devil's Night to commercial success, peaking at number one on the Billboard 200.

Next to be signed to Shady Records was Detroit rapper Obie Trice. Obie Trice was introduced to Eminem through D12 member Bizarre. Eminem was impressed and signed him in June 2001, as the second Shady Records performer.

The label now has six signed acts and is considerably successful, having RIAA certifications gone gold or higher on seven of its ten albums which have been released under the label. Signed acts include D12, Obie Trice, 50 Cent, Stat Quo, Bobby Creekwater, and Cashis.

D12 is a rap group from Detroit. They've had albums reach the top of the American, British, and Australian album charts; Devil's Night (2001) and D12 World (2004). D12 was formed in 1996, but only achieved mainstream success when its most accomplished member, Eminem, had risen to international fame and notoriety. Previously, D12 had been a notable contributor in the underground rap scene.

Obie Trice is a rapper from Detroit. He began rapping at the age of 11, and had a number of underground hits such as "Respect," "My Club," "Dope Jobs Homeless," and "The Well Known Asshole," before he signed to Shady Records in 2000. Obie Trice credits himself for having no "rap name", but instead using his birth name for performing, as also mentioned in one of his songs, "Rap Name".

50 Cent is a rapper from New York. He rose to fame with the release of his albums Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003) and The Massacre (2005). Both albums achieved multi-platinum success, selling over twenty-one million records worldwide.

Stat Quo is a rapper signed to Eminem's Shady Records and Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment. He is a co-founder - with LT Moe - of GMM. Stat Quo attended University of Florida, where he majored in economics and international business in 2000. He was contemplating law school, until veteran Southern rapper Scarface encouraged him to rap.

Bobby Creekwater is a rapper from Atlanta. In 2004 he appeared with Aasim on the song "Anyway", from P-Money's album Magic City. Creekwater was noticed by Shady Records when label executives heard him rapping on a demo by Aasim. Eminem was more interested in Creekwater than Aasim and, in mid-2005, signed him to his Shady Records label.

Cashis is a rapper born and raised in Chicago but relocated to Orange County. When Cashis' group The Renegades sent a demo tape to Eminem's Shady Records label, Eminem instead signed Cashis as a solo artist.
